Mobile Blog Readers Are Important to You

There are many ways to read your blog. The very first way -- it is traditional and conventional way -- is visiting your blog using PC browser. Most of internet users are familiar with browser and I dare to bet you that 100 percent of internet users ever use browser.

Secondly, people read your blog through RSS feeds. They can subscribe to your feeds using RSS reader -- both application based or web based -- and email. I subsribe to my favorite blog feeds using Google Reader and email subscription. It helps me reach more blogs readership because I have limited time to launch my browser.

Third way is browsing your blog using mobile browsers. Cellular phones are now bundled with mobile browser. There are mobile browser with the same features as PC browser. But, there are also mobile browser with less features and functionality. The later is the most widely distributed on the hands of cell phone users.

Generally, mobile browser does not support java script. Or, if support, by default, the java script is disabled. Cell phone is different from PC. Everything is smaller in cell phone than in PC. Executing java script might need bigger memory. With its limitations, many java script operations are failed in mobile browser.

Yes, mobile browser still has its limitations. But, mobile users growth is very amazing. We have already known that Google AdSense has support mobile content ads. It can be a sign to us that mobile users will be important to us. At the end, we have to love them, the mobile users.

Frankly speaking, I am one of mobile user that often browse blogs using Blackberry push browser. I love Blackberry push browser because it satisfies my need to surf the internet, reading blogs, conducting internet search, or posting to my blog.

Unfortunately, there are some blogs that are not friendly with mobile users. That such of blogs use java script on their commenting system. Mobile users have to enable java script in order to be able to post a comment. As a mobile blog reader, I feel uncomfortable with that. Enabling java script often make my Blackberry slower and sometimes hung. A cell phone is cell phone. It is different from PC. So, please be friendly with us.

We read your blog and sometimes want to leave comments to your posts. The disappointing thing is your blog does not allow us to comment because your java script commenting system.

Let me tell you that every reader is important to you. Without them, your blog is nothing. Then, you have to be fair with every type of readers. Don't discriminate mobile users by implementing java script to your comment form. It hurts us.

Must A Blog Have Pages?

Hello bloggers. Let me ask you a question about blog. Must a blog have pages?

I raised that question because Blogportant uses Blogger that as you might know, Blogger has no paging feature. Blogger has no ability to create a page like what its rivals can do.

In my views, blog that evolved from a web log to online journal then become creatures like what we find on the internet nowadays has no page. Blog has posts but not pages. But, in reality, there are blogs that have pages because their blogging engine like WordPress, TypePad,  B2Evolution, etc.support bloggers to create pages.

Then, what is your views? Must a blog have pages?

Your answer will have consequences. If you answer that bloh must have pages, I will ask Blogger to provide the feature for us. On the other hand, if you say blogger must not have pages, I will let it like what I have been receiving so far.

I myself think that in some cases a blogger has to provide one or two pages on his/her blog. About me page is the page that most bloggers provide on their blog. Other blogger completes with Contact page. What never left is Privacy Policy page.

Without the supported feature to create a page, Blogger users have to be creative. We can make a post containing the information that will be covered and then make a link to that post on our blog navigation. Just do not give up. Everything is possible to do. Indonesian people no rattan we can use root to mention that we can use other material to substitute unavailable material.

New Blog Is Launched

I am a motoGP lover. Watch the motoGP race on television is an activity I have to do. Another things can be delayed but not that super two wheels race. My favorite rider is Valentino Rossi, the 5 times world champion.

To show my hobby in watching motoGP up, I have published a motoGP blog written in my local language, Bahasa Indonesia. I know that motoGP is always visited by motogp lovers though only a few of comments left by visitors. My thought tell me not to stop. I believe that Valentino Rossi and Casey Stoner will show us their hottest rivalry in motoGP circuits.

Then, to log that hottest rivalry, I published a new blog: Valentino Rossi VS Casey Stoner. That blog will be written in English to gain wider visitors coverage. I hope that motoGP lovers will witness Rossi and Stoner's rivalry with a brand new paradigm. An Indonesian Paradigm.

WordPress.Com Increase Free Space to 3GB. Will Blogger Follow?

On Januari 21, Matt Mullenweg announced that WordPress.Com has increased the free space capacity from 50MB to 3GB. It was a great happy news for wordpressors. On past days, people have to buy a credit to upgrade their space to 3GB. Rovicky is the one who has bought a credit to upgrade his famous blog storage.

Matt also wrote that Blogger storage was 1GB. As a Blogger user, I wonder if Blogger will follow WordPress.Com and give more storage to its user. Google is much bigger than WordPress.Com. So, I think that Google will take some action in reaction to WordPress.com movement.

As far as I know, there are Blogger users moved to WordPress.Com. They were attracted by WordPress.com's features that more interesting than what Blogger over. One of the most influencing factor is the ease to import all of posts and comments from Blogger to WordPress but not vice versa. Blogger user has no tool to import posts and comments from worpdress's blog.

This war in winning user registration will continue. If Blogger is satisfied with what they offer, I think that WordPress.Com will attract more Blogger's user to move their blog to WordPress.com.

The place to look for Blogger hack and Google Adsense Tips

I wanted to apply Google adsense since last year. But, I did not publish English blog. We all know that Google Adsense only accepts English written blog. Later I found that other languages were also supported by Google Adsense. But, not my language, Bahasa Indonesia. Facing that fact, I try to run an English written blog to be eligible to apply Google Adsense. Then, this is my English written Blog. I try to place Google adsense on this blog.

I also wanted my blog to have some Blogger hacks installed in. I surfed the internet and found these two blogs where I got both of Blogger hacks and some important tips about how to inserting Google adsense in to your blog post (New Blogger).

I want you to have a visit to that blogs. Below are the links:

Stubborn Fanatic

iMessenger

My template is 3 Column Rounded Template hacked by iMessenger. I modified a little thing to fit my taste. But, at all, this hacked template is great. There are 10 hacks applied to the template. You do not have to hack it yourself because iMessenger have done all for us.

Trying Blogger Beta

I was impressed by new features Blogger promised to provide. One thing I demanded so long was ability to place my post in to different categories. Blogger will be supported by that feature. But, Blogger calls it LABEL, not category. I think that name is not my first priority. Function is!

I have been blogging with Blogger since 2003. That year Geocities still allowed free member to access its FTP so I publish my blog to my geocities-hosted page. After Geocities stopping its ftp access, I publish my blog to Blogspot. Then I moved to WordPress because I wanted to divide my post into different categories. Fortunately, my WP Blog generates more visitor than my Blogger blog.

Now, Blogger is providing us with labeling feature. I hope that Blogger will consider to advanced its blogging experience by adding capability to divide a post into two or more part so that our blog visitor view an excerpt or short part of our post and then directed to read more if they are interested with the title and excerpt of a post. I imagine that my blog page will full of teaser. Visitor visiting my blog can view three or more posts with a glance to our blog. Not like now, we have to scroll down our browser to view every post. OK, we are helped by a title post on the sidebar. But, it is not enough. A blog deserves to have a good looking page, doesn't it?
