. Me Domain Price

My dream domain is .ID that in my views, will mean identity. Unfortunately, the country with top level domain ID restricts the use of .ID. Poor for me, huh!

There is a domain to represent our name. It is .NAME. But, I prefer to choose .Com rather than .Name. Still unfamous domain, I think, and only a few of people using .Name.

But, since 17 July 2008, Montenegro has unrestricted its top level domain for individual usage. Its domain is .ME. What a great domain. I like it more than .Name.

The only problem is its price. Dot ME domain price is still expensive. Go Daddy sell it for $19,9 with 2 years minimum contract. I still not need it. But, if you want to invest, I think that you shall purchase below domains:

  • georgebush.me
  • barackobama.me
  • billclinton.me
  • billgates.me
  • madonna.me
  • ronaldo.me
  • davidbeckham.me
  • and other famous people name

Will you invest for .ME domains?

Entrecard Is Facing a Problem - No Record For Blog Post Credit

After analyzing my Entrecard transaction report I decided to give feedback Entrecard using feedback form on dashboard page. I did that because I saw there were no credits for my blog posts newer than July 8, 2008 on the transaction report. My entrecard credit did nor increase significantly because some posts earned no credit. How can I advertise on your Entrecard if I have only few of credit?

I don't know why I experienced that problem. But, to speak truly, I have reported the problem to Entrecard support. They answered that some users experienced the same problem. They escallated our reports to developer team to find out what has been going on.

I am starting to love Entrecard. And, if you care, credits for blog post is 25. It will cover my advertisement placement on your Entrecard. That was the reason I emailed Entrecard support to report my unrecorded blog post credit.

Let us wait for a week or two to let Entrecard team do their endeavour to overcome the problem.

Why doesn't Google AdSense Support Bahasa Indonesia for AdSense for Contents?

Google AdSense has been widely known as a blog monetizing alternatives. I think, even, it is not only for blogs. There are websites that have been harvesting bucks from displaying ads from Google AdSense. For some webmaster or bloggers, AdSense always becomes their first choice. Indonesian publisher also favouritize Google AdSense.

Unfortunately, until now Google AdSense has not supported Bahasa Indonesia. It is ambigu to not support Bahasa Indonesia for AdSense but Google accept ads to be displayed in Bahasa Indonesia thru AdWords. If you open AdSense-monetized websites from Indonesia, there are chances for you to view ads in Bahasa Indonesia.

I think that Google has to be more fair. If displaying ads in nonsupported language is prohibited, Google has to reject advertisement in nonsupported language. If Google still allows advertisement written in Bahasa Indonesia, Google has to include Bahasa Indonesia in its supported language.

Indonesia is fourth most populated country on the world. Its population is about 250 millions people. There are less than ten percent of its population which are connected to internet. But, we have to see that as opportunity. From time to time the connected population are increasing as the digital divide is narrowed.

Google has to admit that there are successful publishers from Indonesia. Of course some of them publises AdSense on MFA websites. But, there are also good AdSense publishers that doing business with honor and honesty. To help Indonesian publishers from cheating, There is no way except admitting Bahasa Indonesia as AdSense supported language.

Where Is Google Apps Education Edition Sign Up Button?

I love Google with all its services. Google, in my views, is very generous. It gives us so many free services. Still, I don't know how Google makes money in real world. Does accepting advertisers brings huge revenues for Google?

OK, it is not my problem at all. Prosperous Google is gift for us because it can continue giving free services to us.

On this occasion I want to talk  about Google Apps. I am a user of that great services. I also administer some of organizations email service that are benefited from Google Apps.

But, today came to my mind, a question about Google Apps for School Edition. Did Google stop that service? There is no Education Edition sign up button on Google Apps comparing edition page. Only left two buttons for Standard Edition and Premier Edition. Please look at picture below for visualization.

image

The sign up button is not there anymore. But, on the left navigation is still provided link to School edition. Sign up link still there if you click the School link.

image

Is Google trying to omit School Edition? Or, Google will make it unfree again?

Windows Live Sign-up Service Faced a Problem

A friend of mine have been trying to sign up for a Windows Live ID since eight hours ago, but he always failed on every attempt. He got message notifying that Windows Live ID were unable to complete his request. My friend tried up to five attempts to sign up for a Windows Live ID but every attempt failed.

image

A few minutes ago, he tried to sign up again. He assumed that Microsoft has solved that problem. But, he showed his disappointed sight to me. "It still is not working." He said to me. For this attempt he sign up from www.hotmail.com. He got a different message. Last message informing that Windows Live is working to fix a temporary problem with its sign-up service.

Hope you fix that problem as fast as you can. My friend is still waiting to sign up for your Windows Live ID.

Winning First Prize on JackBook.com First Contest

Have you ever win a contest held by a popular blog? I did it!

I won a first contest arranged by JackBook.com. You may read Jack's notification here.

"But, the winner of that contest is Kombor, I don't read Blogportant as contest winner?"

Of course you did not find Blogportant as contest winner because I participated to that contest using Kombor, my popular internet name. Blogportant is new for me and I am still developing this blog to be a famous one.

Maintaining English blog is quite hard to me comparing to other blogs in Bahasa Indonesia, my first and daily language. But, it is worth to try. If Jacky succeed with his JackBook.com, other bloggers can claim their success too.

I believe that if I treat Blogportant like I treat Kombor.com, I will have blogportant as famous as Kombor.com.

I win 10,000 entrecard credits from Jacky's first contest. Think that it will be very useful to promote Blogportant to great famous blog out there.

How I won that contest?

I was just participating to that contest without a particular strategy. At first, I put links to Jackbook.com and Romeuy.com on Kombor.com and then wrote a review about the contest. I did hope that there will PR5 or PR6 contestants join the contest to beat me. But, until Jack revised the contest rules, there was no PR5 contestants joined. I have other PR4, PR3, PR2 and PR1 blogs. I, then, put Suaraku.com in. That blog have PR4. A review to the contest was also written to Suaraku.com. It was not finished yet. I put links to jackBook.com and RomeUy.com to other blogs.

It was my luck that I have other PR4, PR3, PR2, and PR1 blog. All of blogs other that Kombor.com are Blogger's blog hosten on blogspot. I realize now that I will gain PR increase easily with my blogspot blogs. Jacky has ever written about that on JackBook.com and I experience it myself.

Then, train your domain on blogspot to gain high PR. Trust me, I have proved that!

Proofs of Blogger Inline Comment That Unfriendly To Mobile Browser

I have told you that Blogger inline comment form that is currently under drafting does not support mobile users. Blogger comment form does not appear on Blackberry push browser or Opera Mini.

I am not joking but telling you the truth. To ensure you, I will give you the proofs. I have captured two screen shots from my Blackberry screen. A screen shot of Blackberry push browser screen and the other is Opera Mini screen.

bbscreen[1]

bbscreen[2]

I am sorry for giving you screen shots of blog written in Bahasa Indonesia. I will explain you where the comment form shall appear.

OK, look at "Posting sebuah komentar" it means "post a comment". In a PC browser, comment form appears below that sentence. Look at image below as a comparison to that two screen shot images.

I am afraid that mobile users are viewed unimportant by Blogger.

Mobile Blog Readers Are Important to You

There are many ways to read your blog. The very first way -- it is traditional and conventional way -- is visiting your blog using PC browser. Most of internet users are familiar with browser and I dare to bet you that 100 percent of internet users ever use browser.

Secondly, people read your blog through RSS feeds. They can subscribe to your feeds using RSS reader -- both application based or web based -- and email. I subsribe to my favorite blog feeds using Google Reader and email subscription. It helps me reach more blogs readership because I have limited time to launch my browser.

Third way is browsing your blog using mobile browsers. Cellular phones are now bundled with mobile browser. There are mobile browser with the same features as PC browser. But, there are also mobile browser with less features and functionality. The later is the most widely distributed on the hands of cell phone users.

Generally, mobile browser does not support java script. Or, if support, by default, the java script is disabled. Cell phone is different from PC. Everything is smaller in cell phone than in PC. Executing java script might need bigger memory. With its limitations, many java script operations are failed in mobile browser.

Yes, mobile browser still has its limitations. But, mobile users growth is very amazing. We have already known that Google AdSense has support mobile content ads. It can be a sign to us that mobile users will be important to us. At the end, we have to love them, the mobile users.

Frankly speaking, I am one of mobile user that often browse blogs using Blackberry push browser. I love Blackberry push browser because it satisfies my need to surf the internet, reading blogs, conducting internet search, or posting to my blog.

Unfortunately, there are some blogs that are not friendly with mobile users. That such of blogs use java script on their commenting system. Mobile users have to enable java script in order to be able to post a comment. As a mobile blog reader, I feel uncomfortable with that. Enabling java script often make my Blackberry slower and sometimes hung. A cell phone is cell phone. It is different from PC. So, please be friendly with us.

We read your blog and sometimes want to leave comments to your posts. The disappointing thing is your blog does not allow us to comment because your java script commenting system.

Let me tell you that every reader is important to you. Without them, your blog is nothing. Then, you have to be fair with every type of readers. Don't discriminate mobile users by implementing java script to your comment form. It hurts us.

Blogger Inline Commenting System Does Not Support Blackberry Push Browser and Opera Mini

That Blogger drafted inline commenting system in answering users request, we appreciate very much. My double thumbs up for Blogger. It reflects that Blogger hear our voices.

By this post, unfortunately, I would like to tell Blogger that the newly drafted inline commenting system does not support Blackberry push browser or Opera Mini. Comment field from a blog that is set inline below blog post does not appear if the post is opened with Blackberry push browser or Opera Mini.

I have no idea why such experience happened. But, to give you clue about the problem, let me tell you that Blackberry push browser by default is set not to execute java script. It will be hard for Blackberry push browser to open the page if java script is enabled. Java script generated contents are not displayed by Blackberry push browser. That bring me to an assumption that Blogger inline comment is executed using java script. If it is use common form like what WordPress does, the comment form will appear normally on Blackberry push browser.

Blogger commenting system is used to executed well using Blackberry push browser. Only the inline comment form that does not working.

If you know a hack by JackBook.com, that hack does not work on Blackberry push browser too. Yes, JackBook hack uses java script to execute the operation. My question then, does Google guy displays Blogger comment form inline use java script? If so, no mobile user can post a comment on a Blogger blog.

I hope Blogger will improve its commenting system so that all browser -- including Blackberry push browser and Opera Mini -- is supported.

Choose Meebo or Yahoo! Web Messenger?

I think that all of you are familiar with Yahoo!Messenger. It is the most widely used chat client on the internet, isn't it?

image I did not run any survey to state that Yahoo!Messenger is the most widely used chat client. I raise that statement because most of my online friends use it. The MSN Live Messenger, Google Talk, AIM or ICQ users are less than Yahoo! Messenger users. Of course, I will withdraw my statement back if there is survey result shows otherwise situation.

On a line with Yahoo!Messenger familiarity, I suggest that you also understand that many company block the port used by Yahoo!Messenger so that their workers can't log in to the Yahoo!Messenger network to chat with their online buddies. To overcome that, people are benefited from Meebo that offer web access to Yahoo!Messenger network. You need no Yahoo!Messenger installation on your computer. To chat with your friends just open www.meebo.com and log in with your Yahoo!ID.

Meebo success was monitored by Yahoo! Realizing that many Yahoo!Messenger users often chat with meebo, Yahoo! launch it's own web messenger client. With this Yahoo!Webmessenger, chatters do not need to install Yahoo!Messenger client. To start chat with their friends, chatter only have to open http://webmessenger.yahoo.com and log in from that page.

But, meebo offer more values than Yahoo!Webmessenger. With meebo you not only can log in to Yahoo!Messenger network but also to AIM, Google Talk and MSN Messenger network. Meebo user may choose to sign in using meebo ID and password to be logged in to all registered chat account or just log in to a single chat network from log in filed on meebo homepage.

My experience, meebo is lighter than Yahoo!Webmessenger. I enjoy chatting with meebo. Of course, with meebo I don't get all of Yahoo!Messenger features. But, the most important and the basic feature, that is to chat with my online contacts can be done.

Then, it is up to you to choose meebo or Yahoo!Webmessenger if your company blockade the access to Yahoo!Messenger client.

WordPress is not The Best Blog Engine

Sorry if you guys think that WordPress is the best blog engine on the world. I don't think so.

In my views, the best blog engine has to have one or more things another blog engines don't have. The facts given to us are not saying that WordPress has something other blog engines don't have.

OK. OK. I know you will say that WordPress have an ability to create static pages that other blog engine like Blogger does not have. Yes, WordPress has it and Blogger does not. But, TypePad has. Mambo and Joomla have too. If I am not mistaken, b2evolution also has that feature.

To that extend, I don't see a feature that WordPress has and other blog engines don't. But, I can show you features that Blogger has by default but WordPress does not have. They are blogsend address and send post by mail.

Blogsend address

With Blogger, we can automatically send my new post to an email address that is set on our blog settings. Every time me publish new posts, that posts will be sent to the email address we have saved. That feature help me in backing up my blog post to another blog that has post by mail feature.

WordPress does not have this blogsend mail facility.

Send post/article by mail

Blogger by default give its users this facility. Every post has an envelope icon that can be enabled or disabled. By default, it is enabled. This envelope icon, if clicked, can be used to send that post to our friends by email. Simply click the envelope and type in email addresses we want to deliver the post.

What about WordPress? Let me tell you that WordPress does not have it by default. You have to install a third party plugin to have that feature on your blog.

-*-

Then, will you say WordPress is the best blog engine on the world after that facts disclosure?

Must A Blog Have Pages?

Hello bloggers. Let me ask you a question about blog. Must a blog have pages?

I raised that question because Blogportant uses Blogger that as you might know, Blogger has no paging feature. Blogger has no ability to create a page like what its rivals can do.

In my views, blog that evolved from a web log to online journal then become creatures like what we find on the internet nowadays has no page. Blog has posts but not pages. But, in reality, there are blogs that have pages because their blogging engine like WordPress, TypePad,  B2Evolution, etc.support bloggers to create pages.

Then, what is your views? Must a blog have pages?

Your answer will have consequences. If you answer that bloh must have pages, I will ask Blogger to provide the feature for us. On the other hand, if you say blogger must not have pages, I will let it like what I have been receiving so far.

I myself think that in some cases a blogger has to provide one or two pages on his/her blog. About me page is the page that most bloggers provide on their blog. Other blogger completes with Contact page. What never left is Privacy Policy page.

Without the supported feature to create a page, Blogger users have to be creative. We can make a post containing the information that will be covered and then make a link to that post on our blog navigation. Just do not give up. Everything is possible to do. Indonesian people no rattan we can use root to mention that we can use other material to substitute unavailable material.

Unaligned AdSense Optimization Report Regarding To Referral Retirement

As we might know, Google AdSense has written to us about the retirement of Referral that will be executed during next last week of August 2008. Every AdSense publisher has been emailed about that important news.

Even, if we log in to Google AdSense dashboard, the red text with the same message is added after Referral section.

image

But, unfortunately, I still have July Optimization report that said that referrals can add incremental revenue to my site. That optimization recommendations is not aligned with referral retirement message Google AdSense sent to us, isn't it?

I shot a screen capture of the optimization report to give you clearer explanation:

image

Yes. Of course that the optimization report is generated by automatic system and I think that Google still maintain it to include referral optimization recommendation because referral will be retired during last week of August 2008. AdSense Publishers has enough time to publish referral on their website. I choose not to publish referral.
